Cochrane Public Health is currently determining its priority systematic review topics for the next five years and would like your input.

About Cochrane

Cochrane systematic reviews summarise the results of studies that address important questions about what works to address public health issues. They provide a careful evaluation of the evidence, allowing judgements to be made that can inform recommendations (e.g. guidelines). Cochrane systematic reviews are considered gold standard in systematic review methodology, and are conducted rigorously, and independently of conflicted funding. Cochrane systematic reviews are published in the Cochrane Library (see http://cochranelibrary.com).

Scope of Cochrane Public Health

Cochrane Public Health publishes systematic reviews of the effects of public health interventions.

Our reviews address:

non-communicable health risk behaviours (e.g. smoking, nutrition, alcohol and physical activity) or the structural and social determinants of health
interventions operating at the population (non-individual) level (e.g. community, systems, policy, legislation and regulation)
interventions in settings outside of healthcare (e.g. education, transport, the built environment, agriculture, child care and social services)
strategies to improve the translation of public health interventions into policy and pracitce

Our reviews consider the effects of interventions, and can include randomised and non-randomised studies. We do not consider other types of research questions, such as prevalence, aetiology, environmental exposure, diagnosis or prognosis.

Cochrane Public Health will collate the results received and use the results to identify priority research questions within the Cochrane Public Health scope. The results of this survey will be used to prioritise the selection of review proposals submitted for registration with Cochrane Public Health and the provision of editorial support. The results will also be promoted on our website and published in an academic journal. We will investigate opportunities to identify funding to support high priority reviews.
